Method for Installing the Overhead Sectional Door Spring Balance System

 

Strict adherence to safety regulations and operation by qualified professionals is required.

1, Precisely measure the door opening width, height, and top clearance height to ensure accurate bracket placement.

 

2, Use a level to establish a horizontal line along the bracket's top surface, ensuring the outer endpoints are perpendicular to the guide rail sides.

Drill holes into the wall and secure the brackets with expansion bolts. Weld 30×30mm angle iron reinforcement under the brackets if the door opening width exceeds 4.2 meters. Calibrate both side brackets using a water level tube (or laser level) to ensure they are perfectly level and symmetrical.

 

3, Position the rails 1 meter above the floor level and secure them with expansion bolts (e.g., 10×80mm).

Use a plumb bob to verify the verticality of the guide rails, ensuring both rails are perfectly aligned horizontally.

 

4, Thread the torsion spring shaft through the side brackets, cable drums, etc. (left-hand cable drums on the left side, right-hand on the right).

Determine flange positions based on the spring's rotation direction: fixed flange on the left and adjustment flange on the right for left-hand springs; opposite for right-hand springs.

5, The spring's fracture end faces outwards (away from the building). Left/right-hand springs are distinguished by the winding direction (left-hand/right-hand).

6‌, Secure one end of the spring. Wind the adjustment end to the required number of turns (Turns = Door Height ÷ Cable Drum Circumference + Pre-tension 0.5~1 turn).

Push the adjustment end firmly towards the fixed end and lock the adjustment flange screws.

‌7, Secure one end of the spring. Extend the adjustment end by 60~120mm, then pre-tension 0.5~1 turn before securing.

8, Single Spring System: Ensure the bearing mount flat and the spring's fixed end notch face the same direction to prevent disengagement.

Dual Spring System: Use dual-track + dual springs when lintel height ≤35cm; use single-track + single spring when >35cm.

9, Lift the door panel onto the brackets, secure it loosely with U-bolts, adjust for uniform clearance between the panel and the guide rails, then fully tighten.

10, Remove packaging straps from the door panel and gently introduce it into the guide rails.

Manually raise and lower the door several times to check for smooth, effortless operation.

Install the bottom track limit stop (on the cut edge side) to prevent the door from descending too far.

11, est the door for smooth opening and closing. Fine-tune the spring pre-tension if necessary.

 

12, Winding the spring requires two technicians using dedicated winding bars, turning in increments ≤1/4 turn per step.

13, All bolts must be fully tightened to prevent spring loosening and potential accidents.

14,  Prepare necessary tools (level, winding bars, expansion bolts, etc.) in advance. Ensure minimum top clearance ≥500mm.

Vertical Lift Doors: Require tapered drums (barrel drums). Pre-tension force: 3.5~4.5 turns.

High Lift/Back-Hinged Doors: Use semi-tapered drums. Wind the cable fully around the tapered section first, then onto the straight (flat) section.
